An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual tojoin our Information Governance team as an Information Governance officersupporting the Trust's main IG activities in ensuring the Trust remainscompliant with the Data Protection and information rights legal framework The IG Officer will work closely to support all Trust staff, advising oninformation governance best practices, data privacy, data protection and otherrecords and information governance issues. This role is responsible for supporting the Trust's IG agenda. This rolewill bring together Information Risk Management, Data Protection, CaldicottPrinciples, Records Management, Registration Authority, Data Quality,Information Security and Confidentiality. The post holder will be required to support the completion of the DSPToolkit for STSFT, coordinating with requirement leads to ensure that they areaware of their duties and timescales and in ensuring supporting evidence isavailable for audit review in a well-structured and orderly manner, includingcarrying out audits as necessary to ensure compliance with IG policies andprocedures and identifying areas for improvement. Please note the Trust are not able to offer Skilled Worker Sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the UKVI threshold requirements. Main duties of the job The post holder will also manage and enhance the Information Asset andInformation Transfer process, working with Information Asset Owners andAdministrators to ensure the register is up to date, and report to the SIRO andSenior Management Team. They will also support the management of DPIAs (including the DPIA log),working with project leads to ensure that DPIAs are completed, and that dataprotection risks relating to projects are managed appropriately and escalatedas necessary. The position will require someone with good organisational skills andthe ability to work independently. The Information Governance Team are a busyteam, the successful applicant must possess excellent communication skills,exercising a high degree of personal initiative and autonomy as well as theability to work flexibly under pressure to achieve within tight deadlines. Hours will be per week to be worked Monday - Friday. The post iscurrently following a hybrid working approach, with the expectation of two daysa week in the office and the rest of the time is flexible between the officeand home depending on work needs., TheInformation Governance Officer will provide ongoing support to and deputise forthe Head of Information Governance and Data Protection Officer in the deliveryand management of the Trusts Information Governance regime. Tosupport the overall development, management and delivery of the TrustsInformation Governance Strategy and work programme. To provide IG advice and supportinternally to the information Technology Team and to staff working throughoutSouth Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust and partner organisations via Service LevelAgreements under the direction of the Head of Information Governance. The Information GovernanceOfficer will lead on the creation of the overall information governancepolicies and procedures specifically in the areas of data protection,confidentiality, information security and corporate and business records. An ongoing part of this role will beimplementing systems and reviewing compliance with the Trust informationGovernance Policies and Procedures.

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent employment experience.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Methodology.
  • Knowledge of Project management tools / methodology.
  • Desirable
  • IG within a large multidisciplinary organisation.
  • Professional IG qualifications.
  • PRINCE II Qualified.
  • Major integrated NHS IT systems, ideally MEDITECH.
  • Experience Essential
  • Proven experience in an Information Governance / Information Management related role.
  • Experience of developing and implementing strategy and delivering against associated projects.
  • Experience of delivery of demanding and time restricted projects.
  • Desirable
  • Experience of NHS IT integrated systems, ideally MEDITECH.
  • Experience of Information Governance / Security within the Public Sector / NHS.
  • Physical Skills Essential
  • Good IT and digital skills, comfortable using Microsoft applications.
  • Will be required to travel to multiple Trust and partner organisation sites.
  • Skills and Knowledge Essential
  • Ability to work across departmental and professional boundaries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Will be required to communicate and provide reports to all levels of staff.
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively to different teams, and make complex and technical language concepts simple.
