Full Job Description
Are you ready for a new challenge in the evolving and changing world of Information Governance? A highly appealing opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to join the Information Governance Team and wider Digital Services Team in the role of Information Governance Officer. We are looking for an ambitious and motivated individual who will be part of the Information Governance Team and play a key role in ensuring that the organisations we support meet all legal requirements in connection with confidentiality and security of personal information and the management of organisational information. We are especially looking for someone who is able to demonstrate an ability to work proactively, without supervision and under their own initiative. You will be expected to provide dedicated onsite support and training to the two sites we serve. The role is full time and is currently based at St Pancras Hospital in Camden with occasional travel required to St Ann's Hospital in Haringey. This role will work closely with the Information Governance Project and Assurance Manager, Information Governance Compliance Manager, Information Governance Officers, Head of Information Governance and Data Protection Officer and other senior colleagues internally and externally. The post holder will be jointly responsible for managing the Freedom of Information (FOI), Subject Access Request (SAR) and Cyber security mailbox and coordinating the requests. In addition, the post holder will be working with the team to ensure compliance with the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT), investigating and processing Information Governance (IG) data breaches, implementing and reporting on Information Governance training and conducting Information Governance training.,
- To coordinate requirements and responses from both internal and external stakeholders with regards to FOIs and SARs service delivery.
- Act as the first point of contact for Information Governance enquiries, some of which will be of a confidential nature, referring callers onward where appropriate.
- Assist with Information Governance audits of clinical and corporate departments to ensure compliance information governance standards.
- Manage and update the information governance staff intranet and website pages.
- Promote and raise awareness of information governance by working with the Information Governance Manager to plan, organise and deliver training programmes to all levels of staff in the organisation. This includes staff induction, mandatory training and face to face.
- Assist and monitor Information Governance training reports and chasing staff members who are non-compliant
- Working within Trust policies and procedures, legislation and NHS standards.
- To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines.
- Attend internal and external meetings representing the information governance team
- To liaise and consult with departments, officers, local authorities, outside bodies and individuals as necessary by building a network of champions to support you in the role.
- Plan and manage own workload to weekly, monthly and annual timescales to ensure continuity of service.
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Supporting the implementation of Trust policies, strategies and supporting procedures.
- Undertake systematic Data Protection Act compliance audits in accordance with national guidance.
- Participate in team, professional and personal development activities and promote a commitment to continuous development and improvement.
- Support with requirements of the Data Security and Protection toolkit submission
- Support with the maintenance of the Information Asset Register and registration of new Assets and Administrators
- Deliver against agreed objectives, achieving quality outcomes.
- Organise meetings or events and assist in the diary management requirements of individuals in connection with IG projects.
A degree level qualification and/or equivalent working experience gained in an Information Governance role/Governance role or equivalent working experience in an area related to Governance within the NHS or similar organisation - A good understanding of the main requirements of the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act and the Data Security & Protection Toolkit (DSPT)
- An excellent working knowledge of processing of Data Subject Access Requests including Right to Erasure, Right to Rectification, Court orders, requests from Police, access to health records etc.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- As staff training will be a part of your remit, experience in developing and delivering training packages would be an advantage.
- The ability to support and contribute to information related incidents and investigations.
