Full Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned Infrastructure Engineer to join our team to provide expert support to our networks and services, ensuring that our ongoing capability to provide mission critical services to both our own Evaluation and Testing team, as well as national stakeholders remains of the highest quality. You will be joining our team at a pivotal time in the development of the lab - still in a "start-up" stage, as an Infrastructure Engineer you will play an important part in helping us deliver success to our mission. Working with the wider Networks and Infrastructure team, you will have the opportunity to have direct influence over how the lab evolves and develops, ensuring that our networks and capabilities are representative of the UK telecommunications landscape and that we remain ahead of the game when it comes to new technologies. Our goal is to provide technical and testing services to the UK telecommunication landscape to help ensure that our Critical National Infrastructure remains secure in the face of ever present and evolving security threats.,

  • Security Hygiene: Keep up to date with and apply best practice, collaborating with security specialists.
  • Infrastructure Monitoring: Ensure that our technical infrastructure is stable, reliable and operates efficiently.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with the wider UKTL team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Innovate: Evaluate and deploy new technology solutions that improve the organization's efficiency and productivity.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain system documentation and perform disaster recovery planning.

    You will need to be able to work with a diverse range of vendor environments and collaborate with the other operational IT functions to deliver robust and secure solutions to our stakeholders. A commitment to continual professional development and knowledge sharing is also essential. Experience working with mobile telecoms solutions such as 3GPP, 5G, O-RAN etc would also be beneficial.
  • Successful Applicants must be able to commute to the UKTL offices in Solihull, Birmingham with the possibility of hybrid working., Essential
  • Accustomed to working in an ITIL compliant service delivery environment
  • Experience with the following:
  • + Microsoft Azure EntraID + On Premise Windows Server & Active Directory Administration + Linux Administration + Citrix Desktop Virtualisation + VMWare Virtual Infrastructure + Kubernetes Administration and Configuration Highly-Desirable
  • HPE Enterprise Storage (Nimble)
  • Azure Administration
  • SolarWinds Configuration and Administration
  • Experience in process automation to drive efficiency.
  • Exposure to Mobile Telecoms technologies
