The Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit in CGI is a true IT Systems Integrator. We work collaboratively with global technology companies, cutting edge SMEs and academia to deliver the optimal solution for each client., As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer, you will be integral to an Agile delivery team supporting a high-profile operational system. This is an exciting opportunity to influence key technology decisions as the system undergoes modernisation, including hardware obsolescence upgrades and the adoption of modern private cloud technologies. You will apply your expertise in specifying, configuring, and maintaining development and operational systems while leading and mentoring a team of infrastructure specialists. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the installation and commissioning of new hardware, ensuring minimal downtime and continuity of data and services.
- Participate in Agile-driven infrastructure activities, ensuring alignment with development dependencies.
- Conduct regular infrastructure health checks, proactively addressing potential issues.
- Maintain system security, including antivirus, patches, WSUS updates, and firmware logging.
- Respond promptly to MODCert Notices and Advisories affecting the system.
- Ensure regular backups, off-site transfers, and maintenance of security and network devices.
- Collaborate with the client to provide solutions and deliverables that meet their operational needs.
Are you an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with a passion for modernisation and a track record of supporting operational systems in Agile environments? We're looking for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in transforming and supporting an established Agile delivery project for a key client., Technology Stack: You'll work with a wide range of tools and technologies, including but not limited to: - Operating Systems: Windows Server, Linux (Rocky, RHEL), Solaris 11.
- Cloud/Virtualisation: VMware vSphere, Terraform, Ansible, Azure, AWS.
- Networking & Security: Cisco, Fortinet, encrypted networks, VPN devices.
- Tools & Software: Oracle DBMS, Veeam Backup & Replication, Chocolatey, GitLab.
- Hardware: Dell/HP Servers, Dell SAN, Dell workstations. Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven ability to organise workloads and independently perform regular duties.
- Experience administering software infrastructure, including Active Directory, user accounts, and security updates.
- Strong knowledge of configuring and maintaining computer networks (LAN/WAN).
- Experience with private or public cloud infrastructure such as VMware, Hyper-V
- A track record of supporting operational teams and maintaining infrastructure performance and availability.
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts, alternatives, and impacts to clients and stakeholders. Desirable Skills:
- Team leadership experience, including task prioritisation, delegation, and monitoring.
- Expertise in planning and executing environment transformations (specification, procurement, and deployment).
- Hands-on experience with hardware maintenance, including servers, storage devices, and user workstations.
- Experience defining and deploying Infrastructure as Code in virtualised environments.
- Network design skills, including specification and procurement.
- Familiarity with secure environments, encrypted networks, and managing security classification barriers.
