Are you an Engineer looking for a new challenge? This role requires full time on site at the customer site in Newport - NP10 8FZ We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer with a VMware and Windows Server centric skillset, to come and join one of our Infrastructure Teams. You will be responsible for the implementation, support, and maintenance of all existing and future infrastructure at a client site in Newport, South Wales. We are looking for a self-motivated and communicative person who thrives in a fast paced environment with constant change, delivering Infrastructure projects and working in a daily operations environment. You will be joining a very experienced team, who work in an agile fashion, working together and tackling BAU and projects head on as a collective, whilst maintaining a relaxed and fun workplace. Reporting to the Infrastructure Team Lead, you will be responsible for seamless operations of the infrastructure spanning across two other client sites, as well as the home base of Newport. You will be given fantastic development and training opportunities within the team, with exposure to numerous training platforms, to support the wider infrastructure, which will open a variety of doors for your chosen career path, working for a top ten Great Place to Work organisation. What you will be doing:
- Handling any incidents, requests, changes and problems.
- Management of the server environment / estates (Virtual and Physical).
- Maintenance and production of technical documentation to facilitate knowledge share and skills development.
- Proactively supervise the environments for issues.
- Server Availability Planning in line with requirements.
- Install and assemble any infrastructure hardware.
- Follow standard project processes and procedures in order to produce documentation to be used in proposals.
- Integration and testing of new infrastructure technology (both hardware and software).
- To be aware of the relevant SLA structure and to respond, fix or escalate according to the limits set out within that structure. What you will bring:
- Knowledge of Wintel computer hardware & operating systems (Windows 2012, 2016, 2019).
- Proven Virtualisation, VMware ESXi 7.x, including vSphere Compliance and right sizing.
- Windows DNS & DHCP, with a good understanding of both principles.
- TCP/IP troubleshooting skills.
- Active Directory and Group Policy experience.
- Windows Server patching using WSUS and SCCM.
- Experience applying ITIL methodology.
- HP Firmware/Driver Patching Management.
- HP Chassis and Blade Management.
- Anti-Virus Deployment and Management.
- DC Rack Management and Design.
- Technical Documentation and Processes. It would be great if you had:
- Experience involving multiple Operating System vendors.
- Microsoft Certifications (MCP, MCITP, MCSE, MCSA, MCTS).
- Linux/Unix basic skills.
- Worked in a large enterprise virtualised environment.
