Full Job Description

Work with the multi-disciplinary team to establish and deliver a therapeutic programme of activities for clients using a person-centred approach, and ensuring this is monitored on a daily basis and assist with the assessment of clients' needs and planning and promotion of care delivery. - This will involve a mix of group and individual activities based on individual need and client mix on the ward. These activities will develop and change over the course of an individual's admission and the change in client mix will provide opportunities to regularly develop and implement new activities. - Work alongside the MDT, in particular the therapy and nursing teams, in order to develop meaningful activities to a wide range of individuals, and to review their effectiveness. - Undertake a range of delegated clinical duties in a learning disability/mental health setting where necessary, including support work duties as required by the service and following direction from the MDT. This will include activities of daily living, community access, support and management of behaviours that challenge. - Records patients' information and to work within agreed support plans - Effectively communicate and co-ordinate with the team to ensure the smooth and safe running of the ward and to meet patient need. - Flexible working, including some weekends and evening, in order to meet the needs of the clients and the service in offering a broad range of activities

We have a vacancy as an Inpatient Activities Clinical Support Worker at the Selden Centre, a specialist inpatient service offering 24hr care for people with learning disabilities based in Worthing. You will be part of a motivated and dedicated team providing support to people with learning disabilities that have mental health issues, autism or challenging behaviour. People who are admitted to the centre will have a detailed treatment and/or intervention plan. The aim is to help people return to the community asap. Our service has been rated as 'Good' by the CQC. This may be helping with personal care or other care based tasks which is why past experience of care is helpful. - Experience: Previous experience in a similar role or relevant experience in a healthcare role is preferred but not essential. What truly matters is your passion, dedication, and commitment to making a difference!, Although training will be given in relevant support skills to be a successful applicant you should have experience of working with people with learning disabilities or mental health issues and preferably have experience of additional complex needs such autism and/or challenging behaviours.,

  • A recognised qualification in an area related to the workplace or equivalent technical/life skills
  • Evidence of a commitment to lifelong learning
  • Health care or relevant NVQ level 3 or equivalent skills, Experience of working with people with mental health needs in a paid or voluntary capacity
  • Experience of working with people with learning disabilities/ and mental health difficulties
  • Experience running groups/activities
  • Experience working as part of a team
  • Experience of being supervised
