Full Job Description

To provide physiotherapy to relevant patients within clinical specialty area.
This post would be suitable for current B6 Physiotherapists or experienced Band 5 Physiotherapists looking to specialise in subacute Ortho-geriatrics and Frailty.
This is a Band 5-6 development post. You will be able to progress from Band 5 to Band 6 once you demonstrate that you meet the competencies specified for a Band 6 Physiotherapist. You will be supported by the wider team throughout this process. You will assist in the development, administration and provision of the specialist inpatient physiotherapy service; assessing and treating inpatients with frailty and sub-acute orthopaedic conditions in the community hospitals. The post holder will eventually manage complex assessments, and with regard to the physical, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual and social aspects of their care., To use specialist physiotherapy knowledge and skills to assess, treat and manage inpatients, with regard to the physical, emotional, social, spiritual and psychosocial aspects of their care. You will act as an autonomous practitioner and as a source of expertise in the physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management of this client group; providing advice to patients, carers, and other health and social care professionals, consultants, GP's and fellow physiotherapists.
You will support the team in the organisation and provision of an efficient, high quality and co-ordinated physiotherapy service for Ortho-Geriatric and Frailty patients, incorporating national guidance and the use of evidence based research into your practice and that of the service. You will provide clinical supervision to assigned junior physiotherapists and unregistered staff e.g. associate practitioners, technical instructors and students. You will have opportunities to contribute to the continuous professional development of yourself and the wider team.
The post holder may, at times, be required to asses and treat patients at Haslemere Hospital, to meet the demands of the service., Are you a specialist in Frailty or Orthopaedics? Would you like to specialise in Ortho Geriatrics and Frailty?
We have an opportunity for a specialist physiotherapist, who has completed their basic rotations, to join our dynamic physiotherapy team working on the sub-acute ortho-geriatric and frailty wards at Milford Hospital.
This post may also be suitable for an experienced band 5 physiotherapist, who is looking to develop into a specialist band 6 in Ortho Geriatrics and Frailty.
You would be part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, health care assistants, doctors, discharge co-ordinators and pharmacists.
We are a friendly team of therapists who work together to provide a dynamic and pro-active service to our patients. We have a strong commitment to clinical supervision and continuing professional development; you will be regularly supervised by the band 7 physiotherapists. You will be supported to engage in service development and encouraged to put forward suggestions as to how we can improve and grow the services we offer.
