Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit 1 Inspector (Transport). Part-time, 3 days/22.2 hours per week fixed term for 2 years The successful candidate will travel around the County of Leicestershire, using local bus services, to carry out a programme of inspections of the bus services and timetable displays. The main duties for this role include;

  • To carry out inspections of buses, time-keeping and other matters relevant to the passenger experience
  • Assist with the collection of bus service data including on-bus passenger surveys, distribution of bus related information and updating roadside displays
  • To inspect passengers' tickets for correctness, examine driver's documentation for accuracy and record usage and revenue of individual journeys., We are keen to support employees to balance their working life with other commitments.     Hold a valid full driving licence
  • Have a good standard of education including English and Mathematics at GCSE Grade 4-9 (or equivalent) OR Demonstrable experience in the points below
  • Have good numeracy skills and experience of using Spreadsheets and Database systems to check information as well as accurately input information, update records and extract data.
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to handle confrontation and respond to customer queries face to face in a calm and professional manner.
  • Be able to understand bus schedules and timetables.
  • Have good organisational skills with a logical approach to plan and prioritise work, together with a keen attention to detail and an ability to use own initiative and work with minimal supervision
