Full Job Description

This exciting and challenging role will involve providing hands on engineering and production support for the introduction and development of products from prototype through to regulated commercial instruments. This will involve hands on mechanical and electronic assembly, quality control, testing of components and assemblies. Feedback to design and production engineers is essential. Duties include:

  • Working within a team to build sub-assemblies and devices to required specification and standard, ensuring departmental targets are met
  • Following production and operational procedures & instructions
  • Filling out manufacturing records thoroughly
  • Accurate stock control
  • Assisting in the progression of updates and upgrades into production
  • Reacting quickly to production quality issues in an efficient manner using standard procedures
  • Provide support to resolve technical issues, ensuring all investigation work is documented, with the aim to reduce cost and improve reliability, while complying with current quality standards
  • Maintaining a safe, professional, clean and tidy work space at all times
  • Contributing towards driving continuous improvement
  • Any other duties as might be required within the remit and responsibilities of the post

    We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the engineering team as Instrument Build Technician., We'll expect you to have a GCSE in Maths & English and a relevant engineering qualification would also be a bonus. You'll have worked in prototype and production environments and be used to fast-paced working conditions. If you've assembled and developed complex electromechanical products, this would also be of benefit. You'll know your way around basic mechanical and electronic engineering processes and have hands-on technical ability working with mechanical assemblies. If you're also familiar with quality management systems and proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, this would be advantageous.
