Full Job Description

We are currently hiring for the position of an Instrumentation Battery Build Engineer to join the team here at JLR. The Instrumentation team supports the Jaguar Land Rover engineering community by providing expert knowledge of data acquisition installations and measurement techniques. In this role, you will oversee the installation of measurement sensors on prototype batteries to enable the accurate collection of test data to enable internal engineering customers to validate component performance. Due to the nature of the job requirements and you roles and responsibilities, hybrid working is not likely to be supported, and you will be expected to be onsite frequently, moving around to other JLR areas where needed if required. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Support the various build teams (stack, pack and BEM) to deliver instrumented units to specification.
  • Use specialist tools within the Instrumentation department such as IMS and CID to work efficiently and document requirements.
  • Create and provide clear build instructions (job cards and picture books).
  • Prepare and supply the instrumentation equipment for build.
  • Follow up and support the build with the problem solving to ensure that requirements are met.
  • Configure measurement systems and signal conditioning.

In order to be considered for this position, you will preferably need to have experience of working on the build and installation of batteries in an automotive setting, but specifically knowledge in battery testing. Your experience with and understanding of instrumentation and measurements will also give you a big advantage.
  • Detailed understanding of data logging sensors and interfaces.
  • Administrative, and project management experience.
  • Experience of data acquisition software.
  • Experience in battery prototype build.
  • Creating Modern Luxury requires a modern approach to work. At JLR, hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement providing employees more choice and flexibility around how, when and where they work. Some roles require more on-site work, but details of this can be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview stage.

Product Engineering at JLR is centred on innovation and creativity. From advanced driver assistance systems to developing the future of electric propulsion, the opportunities to create exceptional experiences for the future of motoring are wide-ranging. You'll work alongside industry experts to drive product strategy, manage programs, analyse performance, and lead transformation initiatives. Exceptional careers that bring world-renowned vehicles to life start here.
