Full Job Description

Responsible for performing a variety of technical duties relating to the electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and control functions of our Global fleet of test rigs and all associated production equipment.

This will be based from our Slough Head Office, but will include some travel to other UK sites.
Essential Functions:

  • Installs, programs, inspects, troubleshoots, and adjusts electrical and mechanical equipment, instrumentation, and related information systems.

  • Performs tests and maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment; interprets readings and outputs of equipment; ensures proper functioning of equipment and related information systems.

  • Reviews operator's manuals and other established guidelines; ensures equipment and information systems are operated in accordance with established guidelines.

  • Performs basic programming for Rig/machine information systems; programs with ladder logic and relay logic; operates PLCs, RTUs and associated inputs/outputs; operates VFDs.

  • Ensures proper operation of SCADA system; identifies and troubleshoots issues pertaining to SCADA system.

  • Calibrate and maintain equipment, measuring instruments, and systems according to set standards and specifications.

  • Test and identify faults in equipment and systems and troubleshoot issues.

  • Create calibration procedures and reports documenting calibration findings.

  • Initiates work orders pertaining to utilities equipment and information systems; ensures work orders are accurate and complete; performs record-keeping functions.

  • Ensures compliance with National Electrical Code and other applicable laws, codes, or regulations.

  • Checks job sites for potential hazards; understands and adheres to all applicable safety rules, regulations, practices, or procedures.

  • Organizes work assignments and sets priorities.

    Minimum of HNC in Mechatronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or similar field

  • 1+ years of hands-on experience in Instrumentation & Control or similar field

  • PLC Design & Programming: Hands-on experience in industrial automation, including simulation using PLCLogix 500, Well-versed with PLC programming tools (TIA Portal & Microladder), SIMATIC S7-1500 PLC

  • Mechanical and Automation Process Controls (Siemens PLCs, SCADA, pneumatic systems, flow meters, sensors, AC/DC motors, control valves). Systems Commissioning

  • Electrical Design: Excellent understanding of how to use ladder logic, TIA Portal and Eplan to develop and evaluate Electrical designs.

  • Electrical and Electronic Testing: functional maintenance, component testing, system integration and fault detection.

  • Concepts, materials, and terminology related to Control & Calibration systems.

  • Equipment used to operate, maintain, and repair High Pressure & High-Speed systems, particularly electrical and mechanical equipment, instrumentation, and related information systems.

  • Best practices for operating information systems (including SCADA), networks and peripherals relating to machines.

  • Industrial electronic control systems.

  • Knowledge of calibration methods and procedures, measurement uncertainty and traceability, and calibration standards and instruments

  • Experience with calibration software and computer-based test equipment

  • Safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to the work.

  • Record keeping practices, both electronic and hard copy.

  • Reading and interpreting design, PID, control, and electrical drawings.

  • Designing, laying out and preparing sketches for information and control systems.

  • Estimating materials, parts, and equipment to complete assignments.
