The Mercer Insurance Solutions team has a mandate to grow both the Advisory and the Insurance Solutions business across the International Region i.

e. global ex-US. The team works with all types of insurers life, non-life, health and captive insurers, as well as reinsurers.

The goal is to ensure that Mercer's efforts in the non-pensions segment are well aligned to corporate and country strategies through a clearly articulated proposition, a focused solutions and product offering and co-ordinated sales activity alongside client service and relationship management.

The strategy defines which markets are attractive to operate in, which insurers we work with and which products / solutions we offer.

From this, we align resources and coordinate activities across Mercer to offer these clients a scalable investment capability with which they can manage their asset and liability mix, manufacture, integrate or distribute Mercer investment solution, to help them grow their business and improve the investment outcomes for their customers and their own company balance sheets.

We operate as part of Mercer's Wealth business and work alongside regional and country wealth leaders and colleagues, investment sales and Marsh & McLennan operating companies Marsh, Guy Carpenter and Oliver Wyman to leverage group insurance expertise to create a dedicated insurance proposition.

The aim is to differentiate Mercer through a strategic and technical understanding of the environment these clients operate in and to support them through first class relationship management, client service, strategic partnership and innovation.

Play a leading role in growing Mercer's business with insurance clients with the aim of retaining and increasing existing revenues and acquiring new business, with a particular focus on investment implementation.

The role covers project delivery, business development and proposition development.

We will count on you to :

Develop / maintain a deep understanding of insurance client needs and requirements

Work collaboratively with the other Marsh & McLennan operating companies Marsh, Guy Carpenter and Oliver Wyman in offering solutions to insurance clients

Provide strategic investment advice to a portfolio of insurance clients including but not limited to asset allocation, portfolio structuring, investment risk optimisation and implementation

Operate as a senior team member ensuring excellent client service

Gain and maintain confidence of Delegated Solutions and group-wide distribution teams, collaborating to source and close new business opportunities

Design and deliver high quality investment solutions supporting proposals, presentations, RFPs & RFIs

Be the insurance-investment expert in client pitches and business development activities, working alongside local distribution colleagues

Lead project teams or act as a senior resource for the largest projects. Delegate work to analysts, provide guidance and peer review, and act as a coach / mentor to junior colleagues.

Act as a credible representative of Mercer with clients' senior personnel and decision makers

Maintain and check technical accuracy, reasonableness of own work and others

Provide input to team development and strategy

Actuarial qualification ideally fully qualified although part qualified actuaries may also be considered

Background in an investment or market risk role predominantly focused on insurers gained through working in-house at an insurer, asset manager or consultancy

Strong technical understanding of insurance investments

Firm grasp of the underlying economic, investment and regulatory issues that determine insurers' investment and business decision making

In-depth knowledge of insurers' assets and liabilities; ability to construct optimal and practically implementable asset strategies to meet clients' objectives

Strong analytical and quantitative experience of modelling, risk analysis, stress and scenario analysis on insurance products / portfolios

Well informed on insurance industry themes

Strong problem solving skills and ability to clearly articulate complex issues

Contribute to Mercer's publications for insurers and participate in Mercer-hosted insurance client events and related marketing activities

High degree of commercial awareness and confidence to effectively orchestrate outcomes through other teams and specialist groups

Work within a team environment; operate as mentor to junior colleagues, share ideas and present persuasive arguments

Excellent communication skills written and oral

Excellent client relationship management skills

Experience of interacting with senior stakeholders at insurers e.g. Investment Committees and Boards

Administratively proficient and organised

Participate positively in team discussions
