Full Job Description

Due to exciting growth plans in the UK Region, we are now looking for an Insurance Lead to join the Finance Team, reporting to the Real Estate and Insurance Manager. The primary focus of the role will be to undertake the development, administration, and performance of the insurance activities across the UK and Ireland. The ideal candidate will be based in our London Headquarters in Barlow Place and will oversee all aspects of insurance, including data collection, policy renewals, incident reporting and claims management. You will deliver and implement a strategy that ensures all insurance policies accurately reflect the needs of the business and are delivered to the highest standards of compliance. This will be an area of opportunity for growth as the role develops. The successful candidate will not only take full ownership of the UK and Ireland's Insurance programme but will also assist with elements of UK and Ireland property occupancy costs, utility billing and data analysis. You will be expected to oversee a growing portfolio of sites and developments, across several growing companies.   • Responsibility for all insurance policies relating to the business in the UK and Ireland - close liaison with the Global Insurance Team for global policies and lead on local policies (e.g. employer's liability).
  • Responsibility for data collection across the business and submission for all annual policy renewals.
  • Monitor data integrity throughout the policy year to ensure accuracy and adequacy of coverage.
  • Lead meetings with the UK & Ireland business to ensure sufficiency and pertinence of insurance coverage, delivering up-to-date project and budget reports and setting efficient agendas to include all critical issues to be resolved.
  • For local policies, manage external brokers in the negotiation of renewals and case management, ensuring that Chanel receives the best possible service and value.
  • Alongside the Real Estate and Insurance Manager, work closely with the Global Insurance team to ensure the needs of the UK and Ireland are best understood.
  • Provision of insurance certificates as and when needed.
  • Contribute to the development of the Business Continuity Planning across the UK and Ireland.
  • Lead contact for Origami (Global Insurance reporting tool) expanding its use to realise the full potential of the system.
  • Responsibility includes certain UK non-Chanel brand companies, namely Eres, Maison Michel and Goossens with others likely to be added over time. The role will also liaise with UK sister companies: Orlebar Brown and Barrie Knitwear.
  • Property and Events
  • Work with the Legal Team and insurers to review, update and negotiate various contracts to ensure risk management.
  • Track new property openings and refurbishments to ensure the appropriate insurances are in place.
  • Maintain the list of Fine Arts pieces and oversee transport arrangements.
  • Manage the plant inventory for engineering insurance purposes, liaising with the Maintenance Team to ensure this is kept fully up to date.
  • Work with the Watches & Fine Jewelry division, insurers, and Security Team to ensure goods are insured and moved securely, in both day-to-day operations and during special events, loans, transits and at home viewings.
  • Incident Management
  • Lead on all incident management and claims, principally across, but not limited to, cargo, property, general liability and employer's liability policies.
  • Manage the reporting and loss-adjustment process to ensure adequate information is submitted to insurers, including collating evidence on stock loss, business interruption and costs associated with repair works.
  • Work closely with Security, Boutique Operations, Logistics and IT Security teams to review and maintain an appropriate security strategy for the UK region.
  • Liaise with Health and Safety team to proactively manage potential risks.
  • Occupancy Costs and Utilities
  • Implementation of solutions for improved occupancy cost management and analysis.
  • Support the Real Estate Manager in relation to utilities management, ensuring accurate records of all meters and accounts.
  • Responsible for issues relating to metering, including new meter installations and meter removals.
  • Supporting Chanel's ESG agenda by collating and reviewing energy data across the UK wide portfolio.

  • An appreciation of the insurance and real estate sectors, and a good understanding of how Finance Teams operate.
  • Ideally in-house Insurance experience.
  • Ability to multi-task, use own initiative and work autonomously when required.
  • Flexible, with good time management and excellent communication skills including the confidence and ability to communicate effectively with senior management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to connect with partners in local markets, regions and at global level.
  • Excellent analytical and planning skills.
