Full Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic Intelligence Analyst to work within the South East Regional Cyber and Dark Web team, which is part of the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU).

The Regional Cyber Crime Unit sets out to tackle both cyber-dependant crime and the most complex and serious cyber-enabled crime. The types of investigations range from large-scale computer malware attacks, hacking, network intrusions and denial of service attacks (DDoS).

The Regional Dark Web unit works in collaboration with the Regional Cyber Crime unit and specialises in tracking down those engaged in the most serious criminality on the Dark Web. This involves targeting those supplying drugs, providing documents to facilitate human trafficking, disrupting the supply of weapons and those providing a service to facilitate fraud, money laundering and cybercrime.

The Cyber Intelligence Analyst will be at the very heart of these investigations. A training pathway will enabled the bringing together of the traditional analyst skills with a more technical understanding to help trace, attribute and then prosecute those involved in this type of offending. Gaining a greater understanding of how digital data from various sources from mobile phones, laptops, servers and the cloud can be best presented at Court.

The Cyber Intelligence Analyst will also have a unique opportunity to work with big data sets to enhance the Cyber and Dark Web intelligence picture in the South East and Nationally. Providing a consistent source of new subjects and opportunities to disrupt cyber and dark web offending.

Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the south east region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC. In order to achieve this, you must have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad. Note that this role is likely to require vetting level DV within 18 months of joining. To achieve this you must have resided in the UK for the past ten years.

Our people say that benefits include a good work/life balance, a supportive and welcoming place to work and excellent terms including a generous pension scheme and annual leave entitlement.
