Full Job Description
As a PC within the SIU, you will be the intelligence case officer, responsible for developing covert intelligence streams to support SEROCU syndicates and Force Proactive Organised Crime Teams in the fight against Serious & Organised Crime. This is a unique role where you will use your tactical skills and knowledge to bring the right assets to bear, including Targeted Intercept, against the highest risk offenders. You will work in partnership with national agencies, deploying their high equity intelligence assets to ensure that Serious & Organised Crime (SOC) Senior Investigating Officers' (SIO) have the tools available, as close to the mission as possible, to achieve their operational objectives. You will work directly with officers involved in the intelligence collection, as well as the SOC teams investigating the offenders, providing them with live intelligence updates in an exciting and dynamic environment. You will develop subject matter expertise, becoming an expert in the application for high equity intelligence collection as well as the covert development of new intelligence streams. You will play a pivotal role in the identification of previously unknown threats to the public, and through development, ensuring that law enforcement is best equipped to combat these threats. You will often be the first port of call in Threat to Life, Crime in Action, Kidnap and other dynamic situations, ensuring that the risk is managed through the identification of a risk owner and the provision on ongoing intelligence support to them. You will join one of the top performing SIU's nationally, and work to protect the reputation that it has developed through building and maintaining strong relationships with our national partners. Through these relationships, you will give our partners the confidence that the SEROCU SIU is a centre of excellence, putting SE policing at the forefront of technological capability. Due to the high harm and threat arena the SIU operates in, the department can often be an exhilarating and fast moving working environment. We work with innovative technology and constantly evolve to keep up with the ever-growing complexity and sophistication of organised crime. Whether it is identifying and disseminating intelligence around firearms, cash or a drugs handover, an organised immigration crime attempt, or an opportunity to identify a person of interest, the input of SIU staff ensures that when the operational teams deploy they achieve the greatest impact and value to an investigation. The SIU is a fascinating and exciting place to work. The department is a unique function with South East Policing, providing intelligence support to operations in Force, ROCU and across partners. Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result, you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the South East Region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence. Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary for the successful candidate to obtain and maintain vetting level DV together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad., if you have any queries relating to this.
