Full Job Description
Are you a dynamic and creative interdisciplinary culture tutor? Then join us to teach courses, online and/or face to face, helping to bring together people across the capital and beyond and to enrich lives through learning. You'll be a key contributor to our thriving Culture and Humanities department which offers a broad curriculum of courses, from introductory to in-depth, within and across cultural disciplines. We are looking for Tutors who are able to plan, teach and evaluate a course/s in interdisciplinary culture online and /or face to face, meeting the learning needs of adult students in the programme area. About the applicant You will need to have a demonstrable ability to teach interdisciplinary culture courses, that explore ideas or themes across different cultural disciplines (for example, but not restricted to, Literature, Art History, Film). We are particularly interested in course proposals that explore, across disciplines, one or more of the below:
- Global majority and/or diasporic culture/s
- LGBTQ+, Gender, including Masculinities
- Theme-driven courses You will develop your course/s in discussion with the Tutor Coordinator, but will be solely responsible for teaching your interdisciplinary course/s (i.e. this is not a team-teaching role.)
- A qualification relevant to the subject being taught (degree and/or postgraduate qualification).
- Experience of teaching interdisciplinary culture, ideally to groups of adults.
- Ability to plan and deliver imaginative and engaging courses (informed by up to date subject knowledge, enthusiasm and interest in interdisciplinary culture face-to-face and/or online, in collaboration with the Tutor Coordinator, understanding the interests and learning needs of the student cohort.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Have a commitment to Quality, Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, customer care and safeguarding.
