Full Job Description
· Statutory Compliance: Ensure that the SEN team meets the statutory 20-week timescale for completing EHC needs assessments and issuing EHCPs, as well as meeting deadlines for annual reviews.
· Leadership and Management: Provide day-to-day management and leadership to the SEN team, ensuring that staff are supported, workloads are balanced, and that performance is monitored effectively.
· Service Improvement: Drive service improvements, ensuring that processes are efficient, timely, and in line with statutory duties and best practice.
· Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with schools, health and social care partners, and other external agencies to ensure a joined-up approach to supporting children and young people with SEN.
· Ofsted Preparation: Play a key role in preparing the service for the upcoming Ofsted inspection, ensuring that all aspects of the service are compliant with statutory requirements and that the Local Authority is in a strong position to demonstrate good practice.
· Data Monitoring and Reporting: Ensure that data is accurately monitored and reported, providing timely updates on key performance indicators such as EHCP timeliness and the completion of annual reviews
Key Duties/Accountabilities
· To manage and lead the SEND EHCP Co-ordinator team in the processing of the statutory assessment procedures for children and young people with education, health and care needs under the terms of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEN Code of Practice 2014.
· To take responsibility for liaising closely with parents, schools and other professionals in order to manage the complex process of carrying out EHC assessments of children and young people and to co-produce EHC Plans with families, keeping the child/young person at the centre of a person-centred approach and having regard to the voice of the child/young person and the aspirations of the family at all times.
· To manage the placement of CYP with EHCPs to deliver the targets of the High Needs Funding arrangements.
· To develop and maintain partnerships with colleagues from Health and Social Care to ensure appropriate and cost-effective provision is available for CYP with EHCPs.
· Experience of working with the Children and Families Act 2014 and the associated SEND Code of Practice is essential.
· Experience of managing a range of administrative functions and systems in a multi-disciplinary environment is essential.
· Experience of managing, mentoring and developing staff in a complex and challenging environment is essential.
Essential Qualification Required:
· General education qualification is essential.
