Full Job Description

The Senior Technology and Information Manager is the most senior IT specialist in ShareAction, leading the IT team to oversee the use of technology throughout the organisation. You will work closely with staff to ensure that the charity has systems, processes and support that enhance their ability to deliver their objectives. You will develop and maintain effective working relationships across the organisation to ensure that all aspects of IT reflect the needs of the organisation and are delivered to the highest standards.

Reporting to the COO and being a member of the Operations team, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring ShareAction operates smoothly and effectively. The Operations team proactively provides useful systems, tools, information and support to staff in the UK and Belgium. The team are expert problem solvers, using our skills and experience to enhance ShareAction's impact.

Position

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the implementation of ShareAction's IT strategy, ensuring the strategy is aligned with organisational goals and priorities, including approaches to data management, AI, hardware and software provisions, IT security, staff skills and user experience

  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with colleagues, ensuring understanding of the issues they're facing and proactively identifying IT solutions to solve these

  • Provide regular advice, guidance, and, where necessary, challenge to colleagues, being aware of potential operational issues, trends and challenges that will impact IT at ShareAction

  • Keep up to date with new developments, best practice and relevant changes in IT, particularly developments in AI technology, identifying where these could be used to enhance ShareAction's impact

  • Develop and motivate a team of IT professionals, ensuring that the day-to-day IT needs of the organisation are met

  • Manage relationships with third-party IT providers, ensuring these are delivering value for money and supporting the needs of the organisation, This is a fixed-term role for 10 months where you will work full-time, but there is some flexibility possible.

  • We are currently formalising the hybrid working policy; however, members of the IT team are in the office on a weekly basis. There is an expectation that you will be able to attend the office or meetings on average 3-4 times a month.

ShareAction values and respects all differences in people (seen and unseen) and welcomes applications from all backgrounds, communities and industries. We are committed to having a team that is made up of diverse skills, experiences and abilities, and we are working hard to provide an environment where all can bring their authentic selves to work. We know that some people won't apply for a role unless they meet all the requirements listed in the job description. If this is the case for you, but you think you would excel in this role, we want to hear from you!

We also actively encourage incoming staff to consider flexible working arrangements, recognising that a better work-life balance can improve employee motivation and performance and reduce stress. Please talk to us at the interview about the flexibility you need. We can't promise to give you exactly what you want, but we do promise not to judge you for asking.

While we embrace hybrid working at ShareAction, we also think there is a lot of value in spending time together in person. We run all-staff away days, an annual retreat and more regular team and directorate meet-ups so that we can develop our ideas and plans together. As part of the induction process, we'll invite you to our office in Aldgate so you can meet and get to know your line manager, team and others from across the organisation., Please note we're not responsible for the content of job ads, as they're posted by the recruiter. We'll aim to resolve the reported issue and we'll use your feedback to improve the quality of our ads.

To be successful, you will have:
  • Experience in leading a small IT team

  • Proven ability to build effective relationships across the organisation to align the team with wider organisational goals

  • Strong understanding and experience of data management, IT infrastructure and cyber security best practices

  • Experience in leading IT change management initiatives

  • Experience of managing outsourced IT support providers and other stakeholders

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite of applications, including Endpoint Manager

  • Flexible approach to tasks undertaken and ability to cope with competing demands

  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience of managing a CRM system, preferably Salesforce

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to drive innovation and stay updated on emerging trends in technology

We are at a pivotal moment: the climate and biodiversity crises are deepening, and social inequalities are even more marked in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. The global investment system has an impact on many of these global challenges. We want to make sure that impact is positive. At ShareAction, we work with investors, policymakers, individuals and NGOs to unleash the positive potential of the investment system and rein back what is negative. Our vision is a world where our financial system serves both the planet and its people.
