Intern - Communications
based in London, UK
2024 Internship
- Get real work experience at one of the largest mining and metal companies in the world
- Work with new technology and innovation
- Work in an environment where we challenge you to drive positive change
- Draft various types of communications
- Contribute communications data gathering and tracking
- Process communications data sets
- Develop simple communications plans
- Prepare submissions for Rio Tinto wide communications channels
- Update Element (intranet) pages
- Provide event co-ordination and support (e.g. town halls, employee celebrations)
- Prepare communications reports in Monday.com and other reporting tools
- Assist with organising translations
- Miscellaneous communications administrative support
- Studying or graduating soon from a bachelor's degree in communications or a related discipline/field such as journalism, public relations or marketing.
- Ability to multitask and coordinate competing tasks
- Confident in the use of communications-related software and tools (e.g. Experience of Canva, Monday.com is an advantage but not essential)
- Clear communicator with exceptional interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- High level of accuracy and precise attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as well as an effective team member
- Able to build a strong rapport with internal and external stakeholders
- An understanding of or interest in the mining industry
- A work environment where safety is always the number one priority

About the role
We are offering a 6-month internship based out of our headquarter office in London, UK. The Communications Intern role is ideal for someone wanting to gain experience in a corporate communications environment.
This role sits within the Communication organization, and you will work alongside a team of go-getters who will help aid your growth and development in your career.
We are collaborative team, and you will be working in a supportive and creative environment, with the opportunity to experience how a high performing communications team supports a business-like Rio Tinto.
