Full Job Description

You will engage in a variety of tasks to support PLMR's Education Practice which may include some or all of the following:

  • Drafting press releases for PLMR clients

  • Compiling media lists in support of a press release mailout

  • 'Selling in' press releases to journalists

  • Drafting blogs, articles and thought-leadership commentary on behalf of clients

  • Monitoring and clipping coverage for clients in a range of media outlets

  • Undertaking detailed desk-based research

  • Building stakeholder maps for political and industry figures

  • Drafting letters and liaising with the office of MPs or Ministers

  • Contributing to internal PLMR account meetings or brainstorm sessions

  • Preparing "Live Actions Updates" for client meetings

  • Monitoring and providing briefings on political events or policies of relevance to PLMR clients

  • Providing colleagues with general administrative support as required

  • Developing a positive professional relationship with PLMR colleagues, and contributing to a thriving day to day working environment

    As a communications intern, you will assist PLMR's Education Practice in providing high quality servicing to all our clients. To be successful in this role, it is critical that you have a deep, passion and interest in the British media and public affairs as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    You will be well organised, highly motivated and able to work under your own initiative, meeting and driving forward activity to deliver these on recurring and project deadlines. In this role you will gain experience of - and exposure to - all the main disciplines of consultancy life with a priority focus on PR and media relations, public affairs and stakeholder engagement and reputation management.,
  • Excellent written, presentation and verbal communications skills

  • An understanding and interest in the media, including newspapers and online outlets

  • Ability to work on multiple projects with challenging deadlines

  • A can-do attitude and a positive, supportive and proactive approach to work

  • Prior work experience in communications and/or within an agency (desirable)
