Full Job Description

The role holder will be responsible for monitoring, collating, analysing and presenting programme data, ensuring it is accurate and adequately meets the reporting requirements of the Taith Programme Executive, International Learning Exchange Programme Ltd and its governance, the Welsh Government and for any other internal and external audiences.,

  • Liaise with Taith team colleagues in order to understand their information needs and develop detailed management information reporting requirements.
  • Support the efficiency, quality, integrity and security of Taith's management information reports and reporting mechanisms.
  • Review and maintain relevant up-to-date supporting desktop documentation, forms and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Liaise with relevant business process owners to ensure Taith's data collection and storage processes provide appropriate data to support the programme's management information needs.
  • Work closely with the University's IT support to resolve user requirements and to ensure data retrieval from software packages and reporting mechanisms are functional and meet Taith's needs.
  • Assist relevant IT Services colleagues in undertaking user testing as appropriate to support the systems maintenance on a range of different software packages, from time-to-time in accordance with system demands.
  • Share knowledge and train users in the Taith team on reports and reporting software in order that they are used to their best advantage.
  • Support enhancements and developments in the software utilised by the Taith team e.g. Jotform.
  • Support the Taith Senior Leadership team in continuously improving Taith's information capability and the quality of the programmes management information report templates.
  • Within own area of competence, provide correct responses to requests for support by means of for example: making system modifications, enhancements, manipulating data, reconfiguring systems, changing operating procedures, producing additional documentation, or escalating requests to IT Service and Taith team colleagues.
  • Take part in specific working groups, including Cardiff Data Professionals.
  • Be pro-active in developing skills and knowledge relating to data analysis tools, techniques and good practice.
  • Work with the Taith Grants & Finance team to access the range of data available, and to advise on specifications for custom-built information.
  • Undertake bespoke research and analyses in response to requests from the internal and external parties.
  • Reporting Functions
  • Produce regular reports for a range of different audiences including the Taith Programme Executive, the ILEP Ltd Board, the Audit, Assurance & Risk Committee, the Welsh Government and any other internal and external parties.
  • Consistently monitor and report Grant Recipient performance issues to the Taith Programme Executive.
  • Present analytical findings to the Taith Programme Executive to help shape future programme delivery plans.
  • Respond to information requests from the Taith Programme Executive, ILEP Ltd Board, the Audit, Assurance & Risk Committee, the Welsh Government and any other internal and external parties.
  • Contribute to any external evaluation process using analytical skills to produce high level reports and address any queries from external evaluators., Ensure that problems are managed in accordance with agreed standards and processes, and that escalation procedures are adhered to, responding to problems in a timely fashion.
  • Participate in projects as appropriate, managing, planning and organising activities and monitoring progress.
  • Establish relationships with key contacts to ensure role objectives are met, developing appropriate communication links with internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Ensure that an understanding of the importance of confidentiality is applied when undertaking all duties.
  • Abide by University policies on Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity.
  • Support the production of comprehensive analytical findings in a variety of formats (including written reports), targeting different audiences to help convey key messages and inform Taith policy and strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in respect of equality and diversity, data protection, copyright and licensing, security, financial and other University policies, procedures and codes as appropriate.
  • Be pro-active in developing skills and knowledge relating to data analysis tools, techniques and good practice.

    The successful candidate will have experience utilising a range of software packages for developing and maintaining complex corporate reports and providing technical support including troubleshooting and problem resolution at report level. You will have the ability to communicate conceptually detailed and complex information effectively and professionally to a wide range of people, with the ability to convey information to a non-specialist audience through clear and accessible formats.
  • You will be educated to a Degree/NVQ 4 level or equivalent Professional membership in a relevant discipline/experience in a data role. Excellent and proven relationship management skills with experience of managing the requirements of stakeholders. 7. Evidence of ability to explore customers' needs including active participation within teams and groups to adapt the service accordingly to ensure a quality service is delivered. 8. Evidence of ability to solve expansive problems using initiative and creativity; identifying and proposing practical solutions and resolving problems with range of potential outcomes. 9. Evidence of ability to work unsupervised to deadlines, planning and setting priorities for own work and that of others and monitoring progress. 10. Demonstrable experience in analysis, manipulation and understanding of data and databases and an understanding of how to visualise and interpret data to create an evidence base. Desirable Criteria 1. Knowledge of key advances within data analysis. 2. Experience of working in a Higher Education environment. 3. Experience of working within project teams. 4. Fluency in Welsh, written and oral.
