Full Job Description

  • Daily, you will ensure the home is delivering the National Curriculum and vocational learning to all young people.

  • As a member of the Senior Management Team, you will ensure that effective policies and procedures are in place.

  • It will be key for you to coordinate and monitor the educational provision for the young people in the home. This includes initial assessment and curriculum planning, accurate record keeping, and developing a teaching programme that can lead to external accreditation.

  • It will be your responsibility to provide effective management for teaching and support staff within the home.

  • You will help ensure the strong working relationships between teaching and care staff within the home are maintained.

    It is essential for you to hold qualified teacher status (QTS) along with teaching experience teaching mainstream curriculum areas working with pupils who present emotional and behavioural difficulties.

  • You must have extensive experience within secondary and/or curriculum development

  • It is a requirement that you have proven experience of effective behaviour management practices.

  • It is essential that you have previous experience of managing and leading a team.


  • Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.

    The salary is plus a Secure Unit allowance of £2,583 per annum and enhancements for Sunday and Bank Holiday working.

    The Home is a secure, closed facility and movement is governed by the controlled unlocking of electronic doors. The environment can become tense and anxiety provoking, given that the young people are detained. Young people can present physically threatening behaviour and surveillance cameras are used in most areas of the building.

    Vinney Green Secure Children's Home is a no smoking environment and there is no provision to facilitate smoking.
