Full Job Description

We are seeking a fixed term for two years full time Consultant in Perinatal Psychiatry to join our South Staffordshire team. The catchment area for South Staffordshire is the local region which comprises of Stafford, Cannock, Burton on Trent, Seisdon, Tamworth and Lichfield. The entire perinatal service has access to the Brockington Parent and Baby Unit (PBU), an 8 bed unit in the grounds of St George's Hospital in Stafford. Mother and Baby In-Patient Units are commissioned by NHSE and therefore any patient and her infant requiring a bed/cot, regardless of place of residence, can be admitted subject to bed availability and appropriateness of referral. As such, the unit can and does admit women from anywhere in the UK. MPFT are the lead provider for the West Midlands Perinatal Provider Collaborative., This post offers a very exciting opportunity to contribute to the establishment of a high quality multidisciplinary community perinatal mental health service across South Staffordshire and Shropshire, following MPFT's successful bid to secure funding for community perinatal mental health services from NHS England. The new services will integrate with pre-existing perinatal mental health provisions in South Staffordshire including the well-established tertiary in-patient specialist Brockington Parent & Baby Unit (funded by the specialist Commissioning Board).
