Full Job Description

This is a Hybrid Working role with a requirement to attend our London Farringdon office one day per week, with occasional visits to other sites.

Transform the commercial management of Royal Mail's £8bn+ revenue base, enhancing customer interactions across Sales, Service, Marketing, Pricing, and Receivables. As part of a transformational programme in Royal Mail, the International Design & Deployment lead is responsible for leading strategic and highly complex end-to-end cross functional detail design activities for our most critical export/import customers and commercially led product, service and feature changes.

About the role

  • Responsible for the successful management of product design activities within the international commercial product portfolio, whilst developing new/existing service offerings

  • Subject matter expertise to define end user business specifications for new products and services; able to specify the business services when existing solutions are to be replaced, or new service offerings are to be introduced

  • Functional specialist in defining customer and commercial internal/external specifications, ensuring the detailed business due diligence and specification activities for all products are undertaken effectively

  • Defining and analysing the detailed customer and commercial functional areas impacted by products, identifying the potential business opportunity / costs that will result from the delivery of the products

  • Working across Technical, supplier and commercial teams to ensure a structured approach to deliver product improvements, ensuring a robust set of specification designs are available for each product development.

    To truly excel in role you will posess the necessary skills and experience listed below -, Able to operate at a senior level in strategic business management, with knowledge of Royal Mail products or experience within logistics/similar sector

  • Extensive knowledge of the RM international product set and their end-to-end business implications (or relevant experience from previous roles)

  • Expert knowledge of mail operations (preferably International) or similar dispersed organisation; manufacturing / network / utility / logistics

  • Strong analysis and numeracy skills to critique options and determine best course of action


  • Experience
  • Significant experience of leading end-to-end detailed and cross-functional business process redesigns for large complex logistics networks

  • Experienced in developing or managing change across a product portfolio (either contractual or consumer), Qualifications desired in related fields re. LEAN, Six Sigma and marketing-focused qualifications, but could be delivered by experience instead
