Full Job Description

You will develop and deliver The Story's cultural programme including events and temporary exhibitions and ensure all interpretation features people-led stories with layers of interpretation that have been co-curated with our target audiences. You will be responsible for uncovering exciting and inspiring stories about County Durham, opening the collections to new audiences in new ways. You will work closely with colleagues across The Story team to ensure our plans are met in through our ambitious events and and exhibitions programme., Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team until 31 August 2026 at The Story, Durham's flagship new cultural venue, which opened in June 2024. Fresh thinking and an ability to enthuse and spark curiosity will be key to this role. We are looking for a passionate communicator to lead on the programming, interpretation and exhibitions programme., You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a related field such as public engagement, archives administration, history, museum studies etc. or substantial relevant experience
