Full Job Description

The post holder will work as a member of the multidisciplinary Ophthalmology Medical Retina team caring for patients with conditions requiring Intra-vitreal Anti-VEGF injections.

The role will encompass the care and management of patients throughout all parts of the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will autonomously provide intra-vitreal injection treatment and care to patients. This will include liaison with the Clinic Co-ordinator, Secretary and Consultant Ophthalmologist with Retina Lead to ensure continuity of care.

The post holder, as Nurse for the specialism, will be responsible for the development of future nursing involvement in the medical retina injections team.

Main duties of the job

Demonstrate highly developed specialist ophthalmic knowledge, practical skills and work procedures, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant clinical experience.

To have consistent clinical networking with other Specialist Nurse Injector's within the Trust and outside organisations. Attend local and National meetings/conferences to consistently update knowledge and for CPD.

Demonstrate the ability to manage own workload independently, as well as work well within a team.

Attend and actively contribute to relevant Trust and external meetings, ensuring that appropriate staff are informed and updated. This will include regular meetings with the multidisciplinary team aimed at developing and improving service provision.

Develop, implement, monitor and review standards/policies/guidelines and service improvements for the Ophthalmology Service informing and collaborating with other colleagues as appropriate.

Identify and deliver the specific specialist training/education/information and support needs of patients, carers and staff within the Medical Retinal Nursing Service and respond to these needs whenever possible.
