Full Job Description

  • You're never tired of learning. You want to be a pro in bleeding edge tech like DeFi, NFTs, DAOs, and Web 3.0.
  • You appreciate direct communication. You're both an active communicator and an eager listener - because let's face it, you can't have one without the other. You're cool with candid feedback and see every setback as an opportunity to grow.
  • You can pivot on the fly. Crypto is constantly evolving, so our priorities do, too. What you worked on last month may not be what you work on today, and that excites you. You're not looking for a boring job.
  • You have a "can do" attitude. Our teams create high-quality work on quick timelines. Owning a problem doesn't scare you, but rather empowers you to take 100% responsibility for achieving our mission.
  • You want to be part of a winning team. We're stronger together, and you're a person who embraces being pushed out of your comfort zone.
  • Global Intelligence is composed of highly trained investigators, based in the UK and USA. The mission of the team is to protect Coinbase, its customers, and the ecosystem. We engage with Law Enforcement Agencies (LEA's) to help reduce criminal activity and victimization of users on and off our platform. This is a remote role and the Investigator will be reporting to the Sr. Director. The Investigator will work with law enforcement and other agencies to respond to enquiries for customer data. On occasion they may also be called upon to investigate instances of suspected criminal activity. What you'll be doing (ie. job duties):
  • Being the main point of contact for legal/government inquiries
  • Evaluating requests and determining any risks or sensitivities
  • Escalating any urgent or complex matters to management
  • Providing technical assistance and records within legal guidelines
  • Staying up to date on relevant laws and policies

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to serve as the primary contact for legal/government inquiries
  • Strong professional judgment to evaluate requests and determine appropriate level of assistance
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies in a fast-changing crypto environment
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities
  • Nice to haves:
  • Well versed in Cryptocurrency analytics and research.
  • Diverse experience investigating cybercrime.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Looker, Snowflake, and SQL
  • The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience directly interfacing with law enforcement agencies.

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom around the world, and we couldn't do this without hiring the best people.
