As Corporate Counsel at Google, you work on the most exciting legal issues as disruptive technological innovations require creative and proactive legal guidance. As an integrated part of the team, you proactively assess legal risks and advise on products that will not only move information into the 21st century, but move information law forward as well. As an Investigations Counsel you'll join a Global team that addresses emerging risks pertaining to how the team manages, supports, and responds. You will work with Global Affairs, Communications, Engineering, and other Investigation teams. 20th century laws don't always solve 21st century problems, and Google Legal crafts innovative approaches for working with some of the toughest legal challenges of the information age.   • Respond to formal regulatory inquiries, investigations, enforcement actions, and other proceedings involving all aspects of business.
  • Manage significant investigations and incidents in Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
  • Evaluate potential emerging internal and external risks.
  • Manage special projects designed to strategically address and increase resilience to potential risks.

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.
  • 7 years of experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.
  • Experience with litigation, regulatory or corporate investigations, including addressing, minimizing, and avoiding regulatory risk.
  • Experience with high risk incident response, and developing, evaluating, and maintaining programs that ensure products comply with laws, regulations, and external commitments.
  • Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience engaging with regulators, including data protection, competition, or consumer protection authorities.
  • Experience developing, evaluating, and maintaining programs that ensure product compliance with laws, regulations, and external commitments.
  • Experience working with public company boards, including special committees and audit committees.
  • Experience with managing projects and partnering with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working with technology companies, with the ability to understand technical issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, analytical, and investigative skills, with attention to detail.
