Full Job Description

  • Generate stable cell lines and conduct transient transfections (cell maintenance, quality control of cell culture; transfection)
  • Perform protein purification using affinity and ion-exchange techniques
  • Design, execute and troubleshoot workflows using Tecan-based automated liquid handling systems
  • Design, perform and write up high quality scientific experiments in a timely manner

    The Antibody Protein Sciences group in LMD takes accountability expression and characterisation of panels of antibody molecules from early Hit-Panels through to optimised engineered molecules for developability profiling prior to candidate selection. We have recently invested in automation to increase our capacity to meet increased demand and have now deployed these world-leading systems onto our drug discovery pipeline. We are seeking an experienced enthusiastic, dynamic and self-motivated lab-based scientist to join us in creating the medicines of the future. This role would suit an inquisitive scientist highly skilled in mammalian cell transfection, culture and protein biochemistry. You will be involved in the use of novel automation solutions, so experience with and/or enthusiasm for the use of automation would be an advantage.,
  • PhD or equivalent experience in biochemical engineering, cell biology, bioprocessing or a related discipline
  • Experience of stable cell line generation and transient transfection (cell maintenance, quality control of cell culture; transfection)
  • Experienced in protein purification strategies
  • Demonstrable ability to lead impactful projects, identify and troubleshoot problems in the execution of experiments and support other team members
  • Good attention to detail in experimental setup, reporting/writing up data and verbal presentation
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams and display excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Preferred Qualifications & Skills: Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:
  • Expertise in the use and troubleshooting of automated LiHa (in particular Tecan and Akta systems)
  • Capable of performing complex data management and data interpretation tasks/analyses
  • Troubleshooting and critique of process workflows
  • Track record of building collaborations internally and/or externally
  • Scientific leadership skills with experience of authoring publications in peer reviewed journals
