HSBC Asset Management (AM), the investment management business of the HSBC Group, serves HSBC's worldwide customer base of retail and private clients, intermediaries, corporates and institutions invested in both segregated accounts and pooled funds. HSBC Asset Management fulfils its purpose of connecting HSBC's clients with investment opportunities around the world through an international network of offices in approximately 30 countries, delivering global capabilities with local market insight. We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team at Associate Director level. This is a role within the Revolving Credit Facilities (RCF) Partnership Strategy Investment team which has been established by HSBC Asset Management (AM) to invest directly or via sub-participation into RCF's of PE backed large corporates. In this role you will:

  • Assessment and analysis of RCFs for acquisition decisions, as well as the ongoing monitoring of portfolio.
  • Building relationships with financial sponsors, advisers, management teams and internal origination professionals within commercial banking in order to best position RCF Strategy for transactions.
  • Involvement with new transactions will mean review of information memorandum, business plans, third party due diligence reports (financial, commercial, legal and tax structuring reports) and other bespoke diligence (ESG, etc), and building/ testing assumptions of financial models provided, working closely with the RCF Strategy's Portfolio Manager.
  • Management of the transaction documentation process in conjunction with Commercial and Global Banking colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with new fund launches and support the wider RCF Investment Team, including Portfolio Managers to present the RCF Strategy to (potential) clients and consultants.
  • Coaching of junior team members to ensure sharing of best practices and continued technical and self-development.

    To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
  • Relevant experience levels and knowledge of leveraged finance within mid-market lending is essential.
  • Knowledge of the structures and operating practices of Private Credit Funds is essential.
  • Highly analytical including working with financial models and an understanding complex financial information of the fundamentals of Debt / Credit lending.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders in order to be viewed as a 'Trusted Advisor'.
  • Advanced communication skills, including written, verbal, and the ability to deliver compelling presentations to people at all levels within the business.
  • Be a qualified accountant or possess certifications IMC, CFA, ACCA/ACA would be desirable but not essential.
  • A desire to work as part of a team where success is collective and people work together closely to achieve objectives
  • This role is based in HSBC office at 8 Canada Square London with flexibility for home working however you should be able to travel to London on a weekly basis. The role will involve occasional travel for client meetings and other role related reasons.
