The Investment Directorate (ID) in the Department of Business and Trade (DBT) works to deliver economic growth to all the nations and regions of the UK through attracting and retaining all modes of investment. In the Investment Operations and Capability Team, we work hard to provide the investment network with operational services, support, and solutions that drives our shift to high value. It is rewarding work enabling the network to deliver high value, high impact investment in line with our ambitions as a capable, world-leading investment promotion organisation. As an Investment Projects Manager, you will join a new team set up to:

  • prioritise and tackle critical network issues by delivering resolutions,
  • deliver continuous improvement of operations through practical measures,
  • support delivery of the Investment Strategy, and
  • support our people by working across the breadth of DBT's Investment Network.
  • The Role You will be responsible for delivering DBT mission of to attract and retain high impact investment into the UK through working with colleagues across ID and the department as well as with post. You will be a self-starter comfortable working through ambiguity at times, and there will be peaks of activity when project milestones need to be met, but you will be supported by wonderful colleagues, a variety of interesting projects and opportunities to shape your work. As projects may draw upon resource in other teams, you will build relationships at all levels in the organisation and be equally confident of providing direction to junior colleagues as supporting and managing senior leadership to deliver results and improvements. The role would suit someone experienced in delivering projects-as well those with business change and implementation skills. You will be responsible for supporting a range of projects across the team, delivering 1-3 per year, leading some projects and/or workstreams, to deliver results and improvements by demonstrating: Project Management: Supporting planning a project from initiation, through to implementation and closure. This will require delivering at pace using proportionate project management tools (project plans, risk registers, reporting), supporting monitoring as necessary. Stakeholder Management: Helping to identify, prioritise, and manage a range of stakeholders across the department, externally in other Government Departments, and potentially investors too depending on the project requirements. This will involve effectively deploying a range of engagement techniques to seek views, inform solutions, help manage risks and issues, and deliver intended outcomes. Change Management: Supporting the adoption of appropriate change interventions to deliver necessary improvements to systems, processes, or structures in line with strategic priorities.
