Full Job Description

The creation of the IPU Clinical & Environmental Assistant role is to support and assist the nursing staff in delivering a high standard of care. This role is to ensure that patients are cared for in a safe, welcoming and comforting environment and that a high quality of cleanliness is observed and maintained at all times in both patient and staff areas. The post is responsible for the monitoring of IPU equipment, provision of clean linen in line with patient needs, replenishing and organising delivered stock, minimising the risk of cross infection and complying with hospice health and safety regulations. In addition, the post holder will cultivate effective communication channels to ensure continuity of patient care and when required, carry out errands as instructed by nursing staff. Patient privacy and dignity must be respected at all times., Maintaining good housekeeping of treatment and storage areas by replenishing and organising stock as and when required whilst also working with housekeeping staff to ensure a high quality of cleanliness Liaise with various departments and other members of staff and/or volunteers to ensure the expected standards of cleanliness of the ward is maintained. Contribute to the promotion of a safe working environment, reducing hospice acquired infection and complying with hospice operational policies and procedures. Maintain asset register, prepare equipment/appliances for servicing whilst also completing the required documentation and also reporting faulty equipment/appliances.
