Full Job Description

St Helena is looking for an IPU Matron and Patient Safety Lead to work within and inform the policy framework of The Hospice in the provision of specialist palliative and supportive care by contributing to the team in ensuring that the aims and objectives of the organisation are met., Have a key leadership role at senior level and will provide specialist knowledge and skills to ensure the delivery of care within The Hospice as part of The Hospice Multidisciplinary Team

Direct clinical involvement in the care delivered and take responsibility for the overall clinical management of the unit in collaboration with the Registered Manager and clinical leadership team.

Act as a role model for all staff demonstrating a professional and proactive approach, providing expert clinical practice and advice including the direct management of the Ward Sister and MDT members.

Act as the Lead Patient Safety Specialist for the whole of the St Helena clinical services, supporting a patient safety culture with clear systems in place to ensure senior management and executive understanding of the issues that may exist and actions needed to be taken across the hospice in relation to patient safety.

Lead in developing a patient and family led service whilst maintaining and improving clinical standards within the in-patient unit.

Identify where existing standards should be updated and highlight new developments in practice in all clinical areas across the organisation.

Lead the nursing team to deliver care that meets the CQC fundamental standards.

Accountable for managing the control of expenditure within a defined budget and work with the Associate Director of Operations to regularly review productivity and expenditure.
