Full Job Description

The Islington Core team liaison role is a role which bridges the interface between the Personality Disorder Service (PDS) and the core teams. The role sits within the PDS Liaison team, working alongside other clinicians working between the PDS and the hospital division, crisis services, young peoples' services.
The role is to work alongside mental health practitioners within the core team offering consultation, training, and joint working in relation to service users whose difficulties can be understood as personality disorder or difficulties promoting a psychological approach to care and intervention. This will require a flexible approach recognising the varied skills, knowledge, and experience of the mental health practitioners within the Core Teams. The postholder will consider the pathway of service users assisting the team and network around the service user to navigate different pathways, with specific focus the interface between the core teams and the PDS. The post holder will work with the CEN Psychologists in the team to support the implementation of Structured Clinical Management. The post holder will also work alongside the Islington Core Team Liaison PDS Consultant Psychiatrist.
In addition to their liaison responsibilities, the post holder will manage a small caseload within the PDS Therapies Team, this will include offering individual and group psychological interventions within the therapeutic models delivered within the service (MBT, DBT, DIT)., Within the Core Team
· To work alongside Core team mental health practitioners to offer joint assessment and review of services users whose difficulties can be understood as personality disorder or difficulties. You need a flexible approach and recognition of the varied skills and experience of the mental health practitioners within the Core team to offer consultation to staff to more effectively work with people presenting with difficulties understood as personality disorder
· To work alongside core team members and service users to navigate services available, this will include liaison with other services both within and outside of the Trust.
· To attend and facilitate reflective practice sessions.
· To deliver training on a range of topics including personality disorder and trauma informed care with flexibility and a recognition of the varied skills, knowledge and experience of the audience.
· To support the teams in the screening, risk management and care planning for people with personality disorder / complex emotional needs.
Within the PDS Therapies Team
· To provide clinical supervision to Assistant, Trainee and Band 7 Psychologists at the Personality Disorder Service.
· To undertake clinical work in the Personality Disorder Therapies Team which currently consists of three treatment streams: Mentalisation Based Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy.
