Full Job Description

Advancing our technology capabilities is vital to National Grid's ability to realise our vision to be at the heart of a clean, fair and affordable energy future. Our IT & Digital function is partnering with our business and using new technologies to help improve how we do our job - through cloud computing, artificial intelligence or machine learning, to name just a few. We create, continuously drive and improve the processes, metrics, and tools that plan, track, and optimise IT investments to deliver business outcomes. The Global IT EPMO manages National Grid's IT program and project delivery processes. They aim to align processes and tools across the US and UK regions. They're seeking someone experienced in analyzing and improving IT processes. The role involves working with IT leadership to identify improvement opportunities, conducting independent analysis, making recommendations, and presenting findings. The goal is to align globally, evolve IT, and enhance Agile capabilities for growth. Some of your accountabilities will include:

  • Define, analyze, measure and recommend improvement initiatives for National Grid Global IT processes.
  • Utilize Lean, or Lean Six Sigma tools and metrics to evaluate performance of IT processes, identify pain points and work with key stakeholders to build and execute improvement solutions.
  • Capture requirements and drive process change using staff interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, business process descriptions, business analysis and workflow analysis.
  • Create and communicate critical material based on the revised processes, to include training, reporting and systems enhancements
  • Identify trends and process variations as part of establishing a continuous improvement monitoring system.
  • Our Graduate Programme As you'll be joining our 18-month graduate programme, you'll have a tailored development pathway to support you as you develop a wide range of leadership, business, and technical skills. You'll attend in-person and virtual development sessions throughout your programme to equip you with the essential skills required, as you begin your career at National Grid. We're committed to the personal development of our colleagues so as well as the support from your line manager as you navigate your new role, you'll also have access to 121 coaching and a mentor, from a previous cohort to help you transition from campus to corporate life. All graduates complete the core development programme to develop key skills such as how to make an impact, giving feedback and presentation skills. Aligned to our IT & Digital pathway you'll develop your IT technical skills including AGILE and Scrum. You'll also gain important insights in engineering and electricity to help broaden your understanding of our business and industry.

You'll need to achieve a minimum 2:2 in a Business or IT related degree discipline. It doesn't matter when you graduated or if you are currently working towards your qualification. We just need you to be eager to apply your knowledge in a real-world setting. You'll need flexibility to travel within role and throughout your rotations as required. To be eligible to apply for this role, candidates must be able to demonstrate that they will have the legal right to work in the UK for the duration of the graduate programme. If you do not currently have the right to work in the UK, or your visa is due to expire during the period of the graduate scheme, please indicate this in your application and we will consider your eligibility for visa sponsorship and whether it would be appropriate to take your application forward.
