Join us in creating and handling the environments that enable our digital future., As IT Environment Manager at CCS, you'll be accountable for delivering and maintaining our non-production environments that aid critical digital service development. You'll ensure our development, testing, and staging environments enable efficient delivery across both agile and waterfall methodologies, assisting our mission to transform public sector procurement.
Directorate overview
The Digital & Data Services (DDS) directorate is driving CCS's digital transformation, supporting over £30bn of public sector procurement annually. Our Infrastructure and Operations team ensures the reliability, security, and effectiveness of our technology platforms, enabling both our internal teams and external customers to work efficiently and securely.
Team Summary
You'll join our Infrastructure and Operations team, working alongside development teams, service management and transition managers, and technical specialists. Your role will be crucial in supporting our service transition program, managing environments for all CCS digital services, and ensuring smooth delivery of new capabilities across CCS., + Design, implement and maintain development, test, and staging environments for CCS digital services
+ Manage environment capacity, performance, and availability to meet service requirements
+ Coordinate infrastructure and software upgrades across non-production environments
+ Aid both agile and waterfall delivery methodologies through effective environment management
+ Work with development teams to analyse and fulfil environment requirements
+ Implement and maintain environment access controls and security measures
+ Manage software deployment processes and tools across different environments
+ Drive automation and continuous improvement in environment management
+ Provide technical consultancy on environment configuration and deployment strategies

Technical skills
We'll assess you against these technical skills during the selection process:
+ Experience with deployment tools (e.g., Jenkins, Artifactory)
+ Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git, Subversion)
+ Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
+ Experience with infrastructure as code
+ Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools
+ Understanding of security and access control principles

CCS is a flexible business with a smarter working model where our colleagues benefit from a mix of home and office working. Successful candidates are expected to work from one of the office locations listed. Our current office attendance approach requires a minimum of 26 days per quarter (approx 2 days per week, which may be subject to change) in CCS office locations or off site meetings with suppliers, customers, partners, networking / industry events. This is pro rata for those who work part time.
