Full Job Description

We are recruiting on behalf of Quartzelec; Electrical Engineering and Contracting Service. They are now looking to appoint a 1st line IT System Administrator to be based at our Rugby headquarters. This role will report to the IT Manager and will form part of the team looking after the information technology requirements of the group.

  • Respond to day to day helpdesk support requests answering support queries either directly or via phone, email or Helpdesk system

  • Responsibility for routine installation and configuration of systems

  • Diagnosis and repair of hardware and software problems

  • Support the roll out of new installations, upgrades, migrations etc.

  • Setting up of new users accounts, profiles and associated issues

  • On-boarding support for new staff

  • Monitoring all relevant servers and systems to ensure 24/7 service delivery

  • Ensuring uninterrupted service operation to field and fixed location colleagues, Training for all pathways of your IT career (support technician, network technician, digital communications technician)

  • Access to uCertify training platform; core learning materials, assessments, and practical hands-on-labs

  • e-learning training materials

  • Bi-weekly virtual classroom training on the CompTIA vendor qualifications

  • Monthly work-based coaches visits and competency checks

  • Primary Goal Support desk for technical support

  • You will also have the opportunity to network with a range of other apprentices on our programme who can share ideas, offer suggestions and support. Our apprentices love being able to help each other!
    As a Primary Goal apprentice you will also have access to our online portal that will provide you with information and technical guidance, as well as links to the helpdesk to speak to technicians who can give real-time advice and support.

    The successful applicant will possess:-
  • Working knowledge of:

  • PC Hardware, mobile technologies, tablets and peripherals

  • Windows 10 onwards

  • Office 365

  • TCP/IP networking principles and Microsoft technologies e.g. AD, DNS, Group Policy

  • Excellent communication, customer handling and inter-personal skills.

  • Attention to detail

  • Team working skills
