Full Job Description
As an IT Principal Engineer, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary being the technical leader of a Digital Enterprise Services Product Team supporting the Product Owner by providing experience, capability, optimisation, maintenance and the retiring of technologies that provide high quality services to our customers within Modern Workplace focusing on M365.
This is an exciting role where you will be working on a strategically important global programme of work, taking a leading role in the development and and implementation of novel IT solutions.
Day-to-day, you will:
Lead the development and maintenance of standard for the platforms and services we use
Design and maintain system security at all times applying an approach of automate first when developing, implementing or supporting IT solutions
Act as the lead engineer for systems and services taking accountability for service cost, value, availability, lifecycle and the development of suitable roadmaps
Provide technical leadership and act as a principal source of technical knowledge and expertise
Liaise with vendors that provide widely used enterprise software and small development teams within the business complying with configuration control requirements
This role is a full-time position based at either our Malvern or Farnborough site and is Hybrid working.
Extensive experience with Cloud services within an enterprise level IT environment with the main focus being M365.
The ability to work in and lead Scrum teams in an agile environment and engage with cross-section stakeholders of both technical and non-technical audiences
Proven experience designing, building and operating large scale distributed IT systems
Extensive experience working with M365, Infrastructure as Code (IAC), Bicep, PowerShell, CI/CD pipelines, Json, ADO, DSC, Confluence and code repos
Qualifications for the IT Principal Engineer:
A Technical Degree (Computer Science, Maths, Engineering or equivalent) or relevant technical experience
