Full Job Description

Our IT department provides and supports excellent IT facilities for our staff and students, with every pupil having either an IPad or laptop.

You will need to be enthusiastic, keen to learn, flexible and interested in how IT is used across a school. Basic IT knowledge is expected but more important is an enquiring mind, a helpful attitude, and a thoughtful approach to problem solving.

Freemen's School is a leading and prestigious independent school based in 60 acres of grounds in Ashtead, Surrey. Our IT department provides and supports excellent IT facilities for our staff and students, with every pupil having either an IPad or laptop.

The School has successfully trained 6 apprentices over the past 5 years to become IT technicians and to start a career in IT. We're looking, therefore, for two keen and enthusiastic apprentices to join our team and start an exciting career in IT.

Our services are largely cloud based through Office 365 and SAAS based business systems, supported by HP Aruba networking and Windows Azure / Hyper V server platforms. All our pupils from age 7 to 16 use iPads with over 800 on-site each day, and the 6th form students a more flexible BYOD approach. Teachers make extensive use of iPads in teaching, and we sustain over 500 windows devices for staff and specialist student use.

The school's IT team are responsible for the design, implementation, operation, support, and continual improvement of all aspects of IT. You will join the team and do a real support role from day one whilst you benefit from both on the job training and formal training through the apprenticeship provider. We are a team of 7 and you'll have an opportunity to work across the various roles and different technologies.

Normal working hours are 35 hours per week Monday to Friday, however you will be expected to be flexible and work additional hours depending on the school's requirements. Some out of hours cover may be required.

Benefits include free lunches and parking, cycle to work scheme and extensive City of London discount schemes.
