Full Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented and driven individual to join the Wisbech Factory team. As an IT Support Specialist, you'll maintain the reliability and functionality of the in-house (factory floor and administrative) computer hardware, software, network and communication systems.

You'll be responsible for the assigned installation, configuring, development, maintenance and documentation of in-house computer software, hardware, networks, databases and reporting systems. And you'll coordinates in-house implementation of new and enhanced corporate directed software and hardware. You will be part of a team who share the value of open communication to generate impact and return towards our common goals.

A day in the life of an IT Support Specialist…

You will provide second level IT support but also be involved with compliance and projects. You'll need to challenge the status quo and demonstrate continuous improvement across everything you do. Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Provide analysis of critical incidents, trends and issues understanding the business impact and communicating & escalating to senior management within the business and IT as appropriate.

  • Provide analytical, technical and developmental expertise and support for existing and future plant computer related hardware, plant floor data collection systems and business information technology.

  • Analyse, develop, document and maintain necessary in-house information and data collection systems.

  • Install, configure, performance tune, administer and troubleshoot all in-house computer related hardware, software, database, network, communication and multi-media systems.

  • Maintain reliability and provide continuous improvement of factory floor solutions to support the goals and objectives of the manufacturing and distribution operation.

  • Respond to user's requests for new and enhanced information systems using sound business judgment. Understands business processes that utilise computer information systems.

  • Work with all levels of factory personnel to help provide effective solutions to business and operational problems.

  • Maintain technological skill sets as related to the plant computer systems operation.

  • Participate in maintenance of and comply with company data backup, disaster recovery, software licensing, compliance, security, and authorisation policies.

  • Plan and coordinate local implementation of new and enhanced factory software.

    We're looking for a passionate and driven IT professional, with great attention to detail and accuracy who will operate in an agile environment. You'll be a committed team player, technically proficient and with an exceptional customer service focus. Relationship building is key to success in this role so you should be able to demonstrate an excellent relationship building ability internally, externally and within multifunctional teams.


  • You'll have a strong knowledge of IT systems, applications networks and software and will be responsible for providing functional expertise to ensure business continuity and operational efficiencies. You will manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of departments through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between support and business functions to drive Purina forward. You'll be able to demonstrate a strong ability to identify, analyse and solve problems.

    A driving licence and access to a vehicle would be preferable as visits to 3 other local 3rd party managed sites to replace/repair equipment may be necessary (but not mandatory).

    Salary up to £45,000 depending on experience + competitive 25 days holiday with 12 additional flex days on top of allowance + 2 paid volunteering days + generous pension scheme + excellent company-wide benefits.
