Full Job Description

We are recruiting for an IT Support Technician Apprentice based at our Head Office in Bridgnorth, for a fixed-term of 18 months.

The IT Apprentice will assist with technical support in response to telephone and helpdesk requests, ensure all support requests are dealt with promptly and appropriately, as well as installing, deploying and maintaining hardware and software to agreed company standards. This is a great opportunity to develop IT skills and experience, while studying for your Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship Standard Level 3.

What you will be doing:

  • Prioritise and address IT issues based on business urgency while adhering to Service Level Agreements.

  • Identify and resolve IT issues and malfunctions through troubleshooting and diagnosis processes.

  • Proactively update employees on the progress of unresolved support requests.

  • Escalate IT issues to the IT team as needed.

  • Implement security policies according to organisational guidelines.

  • Manage security access and permissions for staff.

  • Maintain detailed time logs and records of IT requests to ensure a clear audit trail and contribute to the IT knowledge base.

  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of data cabling for networked equipment.

  • As part of your apprenticeship, you will have a day release to study at Telford College each week, support from a mentor in the workplace, and regular assessor sessions.


  • Working hours:

    37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

  • Able to manage and prioritise workload effectively.

  • Good teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability skills.

  • Fundamental principles of operating systems, hardware system architectures and devices.

  • Fundamentals of physical networks and components.

  • Knowledge of back up and storage solutions.

  • Fundamental knowledge of virtual networks and components principles.

  • Key principles of network and data security.

  • Basic awareness of the principles of cloud and cloud-based services.
