Full Job Description

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea are seeking to establish a Youth Violence Reduction (It Takes Village, ITV) Co-ordination Service where the aim is to lead and coordinate the ITV work programme to support the delivery of an improved Coordinated Community Response (CCR) to violence reduction locally where:

  • Residents feel connected to their neighbours and a sense of belonging to their area.
  • Partnerships between local organisations are well developed and residents participate in local activities.
  • Violence reduction strategies are locally led and informed by those impacted by violence.
  • Decision making forums are inclusive, accessible and result in the adoption of community-led approaches.
  • Local residents feel safe in their area and are aware/ approve of local approaches to reduce violence.
  • Community groups have the skills, tools and resource to engage in violence reduction strategies locally.
  • Agencies and grassroots organisations have the resources and capacity to respond to local need and take an evidence-based approach to tackling violence.

  • The It Takes a Village Coordinator will work closely with Young K&C's, its members and RBKC's Community Safety team to deliver the following activities:
  • A. Support the analysis and identification of local training needs regarding SYV and exploitation. B. Develop campaigns and communications activities to raise awareness of tackling serious violence and exploitation; spotting the signs and risks and where to access help and support. C. Coordinate informative sessions and training for parents, residents and partners on serious violence, county lines, and gangs, while incorporating their feedback and concerns. D. Develop an engaging and interactive platform for young people to share experiences, access resources, and explore positive pathways. E. Foster collaboration between the ITV Steering Group, service providers, and community members.

  • Experience of delivering effective awareness raising campaigns
  • Experience of digital media creation, including experience using Canva or similar software
  • Excellent communication skills - written and oral
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills, including organising events
  • Understanding of the importance of youth work, community safety and work to support young people and families at risk from serious youth violence and exploitation
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with people from a wide range of different backgrounds and abilities
  • Passionate about local young people, families and the organisations that work with them
  • Commitment to and experience of working with community organisations
  • A positive, solution-focussed approach to work

    Contract: Full-time, temporary contract until 31 March 2026 (with possibility of extension subject to funding)
  • Working times: 35 hours per week, requires some evening work for which time off in lieu will be given
  • Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 (depending on experience), plus 7% London Living pension contribution
  • Location: Ladbroke Grove and surrounding areas, with opportunity for flexible and remote working
