Full Job Description

Serving around 1,500 users across a large site, the IT department supports a highly developed network, servicing almost 1200 computers, laptops, smartboards, and printers. The IT team consists of 8 people led by the Director of IT and Projects. The IT team works very closely together, from one office, which allows sharing of knowledge and continuous development and training on technologies. Overview: This is an ideal opportunity for those wanting to learn about all the functions of an IT Support Role. Learning a variety of tasks including, customer service and interpersonal skills. The role will encompass all aspects of IT support. The network also supports various other connected devices such as multifunction printers, 3D printers, laser cutter, CCTV cameras, VOIP phones, digital signage screens and door access systems. There are many different software packages used throughout the school. Most of the software is centrally deployed to devices via Microsoft Intune. Duties / Day-to-day activity:

  • Speaking to customers
  • Taking 1st Line support calls and logging them
  • Installing and repairing hardware from laptops to servers
  • Achieving given targets and to work with self-driven motivation and professionalism
  • To work as part of the St Helen's school IT department and be a team player

    Some IT skills are desirable with a keenness to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good verbal and communication skills
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and problem solve.
  • Able to work well under pressure and show a willingness to learn/develop
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Confident on the telephone
  • Shows good attention to detail
  • Entry Requirements:
  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
