Full Job Description

The post holder will work as the lead Intravenous Access Specialist Nurse as an autonomous practitioner with responsibility for delivering a quality service and provide highly specialist expert knowledge and advice to staff and patients within the Trust in relation to intravenous access.The post holder will clinically lead a team and service responsible for inserting various vascular access devices (VADs) following appropriate assessment, interpretation of condition and clinical need and preparation of the patient.Evidence based care will be inherent in their practice, ensuring that best practice is disseminated throughout the Trust. The role will be related to clinical expertise with an emphasis on initiating, performing, and maintaining standards of clinical excellence. They will lead Trust wide education related to IV Access for medical and nursing colleagues. The post holder will be a senior qualified highly specialist nurse with an extensive record of vascular access nursing, Key ResponsibilitiesoSpecialist Nurse Lead of the Trust IV Access Service.oHighly visible role model and expert resource for WUTH, WCHC and primary care in speciality of IV access.oAutonomous, accountable practitioner responsible for planning and managing the workload/caseload of the IV Access service in a flexible manner, ensuring that provision meets the needs of patients and directs those staff rotationally working within the service.oClinical prioritisation and acceptance / rejection of referrals into the service according to service criteria.oLiaise effectively and work collaboratively with Multidisciplinary and primary care teams.
