Java / Kotlin Engineer

BIP supports B2B & International payments, one of the fastest growing segments of our business. We are looking for a high performing and enthusiastic Senior Engineer to join Buyer Initiated Payments (BIP) in GCS at American Express in Burgess Hill.

This is a great opportunity to join a high-visibility, high-priority Engineering team and help sustain and accelerate the growth of GCS charge volume by taking an innovative and collaborative approach to modernize the tech stack in partnership with key stakeholders.

In this role, you will partner closely with our product owners within collaborative scrum teams, in an environment that values interesting technical challenges, using best practice design approaches.

How will you make an impact in this role?

• Writes clean, tested and monitored scalable code


• Analyse business features and user stories and refine with the Product Owner to appropriately support design and build activities.


• Performs all technical aspects of software development for assigned applications, including writing new code and creating API's, conducting code reviews


• Willingness to learn and work on new technologiesWorks with Quality Engineers to ensure automated test scripts are incorporated for new features
  
  Good experience of working with JVM based languages (Java and/or Kotlin)


• Hands on experience with Spring Boot, Rest APIs


• Familiarity with Microservice Architecture and API design


• Knowledge of relational such as Oracle and No SQL Databases


• Experience of working with CI/CD pipelines


• Experience in using test libraries


• Familiarity of working in an Agile environment
