Full Job Description

The role of the Job Coach Mentor is to support young people in realising their aspirations to participate in work related activities, and facilitate individuals' progression into paid work, through volunteering, education and training, work experience and other routes. The mentor will work flexibly across all key stages, work with individuals on 1:1 basis or very small groups under the direction of the Job Coach Tutor. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with confidence and initiative who is comfortable working on a one to one basis and sometimes without direct supervision. Working with challenging young people and helping them develop will be key so you will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will follow a bespoke timetable and will build positive relationships with the young person to promote interaction and a constructive learning environment. United Response is a leading national charity providing support to young people and adults with special educational needs (SEN) learning disabilities and mental health needs. Who we need Our Cornwall Supported Employment service require an enthusiastic and committed individual to support the education of students on the Post 16 Programme of Study/Supported Internship programme. This programme is for young people 16 - 24 living in Cornwall and who have and Education Healthcare Plan (EHCP) and is funded by the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA)/Cornwall Council/Cornwall Adult Education. This post will be located at our offices in St Austell or Newquay however delivery of the programme can be across Cornwall. Delivery of the programme is through a mix of education and work related activity both 1:1 and group work.
