Full Job Description
- Due to the significant forecasted growth at our multi-disciplined Manufacturing site in Bolton, we are looking for an experienced leader of transformational change and improvement, to partner with HR and the business to promote and embed cultural evolution and improvement across the various site activities and functions.
- This opportunity requires a long-term strategic business partnering approach to drive positive culture change and engagement, though an exciting period of substantial growth. The role will involve creating and leading strategic initiatives, whilst ensuring that people remain at the heart of the improvement journey.
- This role will be primarily based in Bolton but will require travel to other sites in the UK. Specifics of the role include
- Partnering with leaders in Manufacturing and the wider business functions to create a project plan, aligned to the projected growth in headcount and skills that will be required to support our business delivery commitments within the Bolton site.
- Designing, developing and implementing specific change initiatives for both the Bolton site and for Manufacturing UK in order to satisfy local needs in response to challenging delivery requirements
- Devising and embedding new innovative ways of working to support manufacturing to evolve its functional capability whilst also delivering a rapid growth in headcount and the development of new skills and knowledge
- Coaching Senior Leaders and managers in alternative ways of working, embedding changes to existing working practices, whilst ensuring buy-in from all areas within the Manufacturing business and within the various supporting functions.
- Challenging the status quo, through team based problem solving activity and co-ordinated trials and pilots for new processes and practices. Ensuring realistic timescales and clear measures of success are defined and delivered.
- Line management of two onsite HRBP's, and providing top-level on-site support for any significant employee relations issues that arise, acting as a point of escalation for business partners and process areas
- Supporting leaders and line managers with the communication, promotion and reinforcement of MBDA behavioural expectations across the site, and working on embedding these as part of the wider cultural transformation and improvement activities.
- Support the manufacturing operations team to carry out a full-scale review of existing employee working patterns on site, to determine how these need to be enhanced and changed to meet the future needs of the business. And subsequently working with the HR systems teams to implement and embed the changes necessary to manage the planned headcount increases, functional and matrix changes, and enabling the T&A systems to manage the agile use of alternate working patterns allowing up to 24/7production operations.
- Partnership with Reward team to complete benchmarking of competitor pay rates (for both permanent & sub-permanent workforce), within the local area, proposing and leading on any review that needs to take place
- Partnership with the E,D&I, Resourcing and Talent teams, to ensure that the business is attracting and developing a diverse workforce, and that managers are part of this journey. Develop site-specific initiatives, aligned with the focus on growth and development
- Close partnership with Trade Unions on all aspects of the people and culture change programme, ensuring that the 'employee voice' is considered at all levels

- Demonstrable experience of delivering and leading a large-scale successful growth & improvement programme, ideally within a Manufacturing environment
- Change management, and/or project management accreditation running a successful multi-disciplined programme, ideally with a Manufacturing or industrial context
- Experience of organisation design and evolution, through expansion, diversification and industrial capability growth.
- Trade Union negotiation and partnership experience is essential
- Strong organisation and communication skills are essential
- Previous HR Management experience would be ideal, including handling conflict, difficult Employee Relations cases, including disciplinary, grievances
