Full Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will possess extensive experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and various learning difficulties. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), education tribunals, and experience of working with students across all educational stages, from early years to post-16, up to the age of 25.
You will be responsible for the statutory process of looking at the needs, provision and outcomes specified in an EHCP and deciding whether these need to change thereby ensuring that SEND students at St Piers receive the necessary support to thrive academically and personally. Collaborating with senior leaders across school and college you will establish best practices and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and current legislation related to SEND.

To support and contribute to the strategic development plan for the School, College, Residential, Safeguarding
On Site
+ Overseeing the annual review process for circa 200 students across two establishments, St Piers School (4-19) and St Piers College (19-25).
Off Site
+ Work in close partnership with senior contacts at over 30 Local Authorities including SEN and Social Care leads to ensure compliance with annual review timescales and statutory requirements, including ensuring that St Piers is appropriately named on all EHCPs.
Managerial Responsibility
+ To support, advise and collaborate with the Senior Leadership Teams across St Piers School and College ensuring the organisation is responding appropriately to technical issues associated with EHCPs, Tribunals and complex safeguarding and child protection matters.

+ Actively promote the vision, ethos, and values of St Piers to all staff, ensuring a shared understanding of how SEND students' needs align with the organization's mission and goals.
