Full Job Description
We are looking for digital journalists who will be based in London to originate and produce, as part of the BBC Turkish team, a wide variety of news and current affairs content for website and social media platforms. The purpose of the role is primarily to initiate, gather and produce material for news, current affairs and general programming, making them relevant to a digital-native, young and under-served audiences. Day to day duties will include:
- Use a range of video, audio and digital equipment and information technology to research, write, assemble, edit and deliver outputs in the appropriate medium, to the highest professional standards.
- Exercise editorial judgment in developing story ideas and producing accurate and impartial journalism.
- Take a lead within a team setting or on delivering a specific piece of journalism or project as appropriate.
- Develop creative storytelling approaches to social and online content, utilizing existing and new tools.
- To tailor different news treatments for different audiences ensuring that the output reflects the audiences we serve.
- At all times to carry out duties in accordance with the BBC health and safety policy
A demonstrable experience on covering the Turkish politics, social and economic issues and foreign policy. - Fluency and up to date knowledge of spoken and written Turkish as first or equivalent language and the ability to type quickly and accurately.
- Complete comprehension of written and spoken English and the ability to communicate effectively.
- Excellent knowledge of digital journalism: social media production, best practices in search and social optimisation, web publishing, online analytics, data tools, etc.
- Expertise in using, understanding and interpreting digital analytics and data to maximise the impact of our social media output on different platforms and drive change when needed.
- Thorough and creative text writing and video editing skills with strong knowledge Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro being advantageous.
- Sound editorial and policy decisions based upon a clear understanding of the BBC's distinctive news agenda, the requirements of news and current affairs coverage and the audience.
- Effective planning and organising skills, ability to concentrate on several areas of work at one time, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities.
- Ability to write creatively in an engaging manner, adapt, produce and translate with accuracy, clarity and style appropriate to differing audiences and forms of media suitable for multimedia output.
- The flexibility and adaptability to sustain performance, particularly under pressure to meet deadlines and changing priorities and circumstances.
- An understanding of health and safety procedures and how they apply to broadcasting.

Salary: £27,300 - £35,150 per annum depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
