Full Job Description

  • You'll be finding a setting up stories yourself and also working with colleagues who generate their own ideas.
  • You will be the voice and face of sport in the islands across radio, TV and digital and will present a Saturday afternoon sport show 2-6pm on BBC Radio Jersey & BBC Radio Guernsey.

    You must have really strong editorial judgement and be able to take sensitive decisions quickly and decisively.
  • You should have and a good command of the BBC's policies in all relevant areas. You need an excellent working knowledge of media law.
  • You will already have a good base of experience in journalism.
  • You will be able to make decisions with authority and under pressure and will have strong negotiation, team working and organisational skills.
  • This is hybrid role and you will work across both Jersey & Guernsey

We're looking for a candidate to lead the team producing sport content across the Channel Islands based in either Jersey or Guernsey. The Jersey Bulls and Guernsey FC have a loyal following as do the Guernsey Raiders and Jersey Rugby Club. Four of the Channel Islands take part in the International Island Games, which are in Orkney in 2025 and Jersey and Guernsey compete under their own flags in the Commonwealth Games. Both islands have thriving international cricket squads and strong community sporting links. You'll be the face of sport on BBC Channel Islands News and host our Saturday afternoon pan-island sports show 2-6pm on BBC Radio Jersey & BBC Radio Guernsey.
